Renovations and Interior Remodeling

Transform your home by renovating or remodeling with Custom Homes

Purchasing an old home can be a solid investment. However, undertaking a home renovation can be very challenging. Some of the problems encountered such as leaky basements, falling roofs, or just a simple renovation facelift may throw some surprises during the process. As we get down to the renovation process, each home has its own unique challenges right from the design to budget process and construction phases encountering mold damage and code violations.

Custom Homes has vast experience in design-build spanning decades which helps us simplify the process for our clients. We not only keep the process simple and straightforward but also ensure that quality is not compromised. Our team of experienced and licensed professionals works extremely hard to deliver quality with warranty guarantees.

What must you expect with our renovation process?

Consultation

We schedule a meeting with our teams to review and understand your home renovation needs. The project could be a home remodel or a complete home renovation. What is the difference between a home remodel and a home renovation? A home remodel entails a change of the structure of your home through addition of extra square footage, a transitional façade, or a modern extension. A home renovation entails restoration or update of a home to a good state of repair such as a bathroom, kitchen or living room renovation.

Design Development

In this stage, the important details will be identified and discussed. You will be outlining what you envision for the space. Talk about moving walls, space layout, design style, interior and exterior fixtures, colours and any other vision you may want included to bring out the best about the home. It is still fine if you aren’t sure. The team is highly experienced and will guide you through every step of the way and provide a clear scope of work.

Presentation Meeting

We will review the preliminary scope of work of the major addition, home renovation, or remodel project. In this stage, we’ll review the budget, timelines, architectural and interior drawing requirements, building permits requirements, as well as other recommendations put forward with regard to the renovation/remodeling project. Custom Home will stay in close contact with the home owner from the beginning to the end. Communication lines are kept open and regular updates will be provided for each day of progress.

Construction Drawings

Our teams of architects, engineers, and interior designers will prepare the necessary construction drawings to move the project forward. You will then meet your site supervisor who you will work with to the end of the project. Preparation for construction begins and will include protecting all areas of the home. Perimeters will be set up to protect the site before any demolition work starts.

Final Design Plans

You will have a meeting with the architect and/or interior designer for review and finalizing of design drawings and plans. In this final stage of the design process, we ensure that you completely love the finishing touches of your home.

Construction Phase

In this stage, demolition will have begun, final plans approved, and the necessary permits acquired. Building will start with a site supervisor providing regular progress updates and remaining the main point of contact. The site supervisor also acts as the point person for all trades coming to work on your home. Custom Homes keep the site clean at end of each day and noise levels are kept to the lowest possible.

Home Completion

At completion, both the project manager and site supervisor will walk you through the home and certify that you are happy and satisfied with the remodel or renovation. Your role is to inspect the quality of work to the point when you’re satisfied to sign-off on the project. You get a 2-year warranty on all our craftsmanship.
